Marina Abramovic has an allure about her that is very elusive. She has been producing perfomance based pieces using photography, video and sculpture for over 30 years. Most of her works are duration pieces made with bone, insects, knives, blood…basically very loaded imagery. She takes her work to the extreme, while still keeping them very intimate. Some of her work is a little to much for me ( as far as “expression” goes)but here are a few photos from a recent shoot that stuck with me…enjoy!
ps-where is everyone?
Heres a flick of a wall done in Kamloops not too long ago by some Vancouver and Kamloops writers…(right to left, up and down) WHO, SUEME, SERVO, ASESR, DIFFER, ENSOE, DEMOS, WAYS, WEBS, HOSER, GUTS
not bad for a highway spot…dope is all i gotta say.
Saber is all over the place these days, and quite frankly very happy to see it. Heres a collabo line he did with Usagow and Upper Playground…hope to see more, this shit is tight!
Graf legend Saber is featured in this months issue of MyNameIs magazine. The article is awesome, the main feature of the issue is legendary illustrator/animator Jim Philips…if there are any illustrator buffs out there, you’ll love this issue. If you can’t find the mag, check out saber’s website – saberone.com – here’s some flicks from saber’s article…..
some collab saber pieces that weren’t featured…
Saber and David Choe
Saber and Shepard Fairey
Austrailian paint company “Ironlak” releases their new limited edition spray cans later this week. Their first edition features MSK vet AUGOR. This calls for some biig ups..
Here are a couple of dope hip hop/rock CDs with some very innovative and veteran minds in music.
One Day A a Lion- Zach de la Rocha (former lead man of Rage Against the Machine) and Jon Theodore ( formerly of Mars Volta)
This is my favourite CD that has come out in a bit. 2 guys with drums a keyboard and a mic, in my opinion one of the best hybrids of hip hop and rock since DMC and Aerosmith. Its only 5 tracks but they’re all pretty hype. You should go out and buy this one, maybe if Zack sees a jump in trecord sales he’ll start making music again 🙂
The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust- Saul Williams and Trent Reznor (Lead man of Nine Inch Nails)
Obviously a play on words from Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, Reznor and Williams bring a very progressive sounding album too the table. Some songs took it too far for me but its a definite must listen. Theres a song for everyone on this one. Heres a lick..
Heres some sick new lids from my favorite brand…(i copped the fishing one)
go check out the whole line
